Just because it is a seriously professional course doesn’t mean it has to be serious. Mark Hughes has created the most comfortable, technologically advanced yet harmonious and relaxing environment to help delegates learn and absorb.
The purpose built training facility which has a stylish laid-back and relaxed vibe that belies its clinical and technological credentials.
Located in Beaconsfield, 25 minutes from London, the Grade II listed buiilding which houses the bespoke training facility combines state of the art technologies which faciliate viewing of live dental (and facial aesthetics) treatments from start to finish, with the facility to zoom in and examine in exquisite detail - without crowding a dental patient in the chair. There is also a sophisticated photograhic studio where digital imagery techniques can be honed.
The dedicated ‘classroom’ has neither desks or work benches. Instead the spacious and airy interior -designed which features luxurious couches, a fully equipped coffee bar and panoramic windows on all sides with access to a beautiful garden. No lectures, only learning.
VIRTUAL SHADOWING
Dr Hughes is frequently asked by other dental professionals if they can shadow him for the day. This is arguably the most flattering thing that can happen to a dentist. The challenge is that only one or two dentists can avail of the experience at a time. “Virtual Shadowing” is a concept that has become a very important component of the set up and logistics at the training centre. We have HD video cameras set up both in the operating lights and mounted on the operator’s loupes. This feeds live footage during teaching procedures, meaning an audience of up to 20 can view the treatments from the comfort of the training lounge. A two way AV system allows a “live” Q&A between the dental surgery and the training room, via a microphone and headset used by the dentist. In addition the system allows a moderator in the training lounge to zoom in and out on various aspects of the procedure being carried out using an iPad link.
LOUNGE LEARNING
Dr Hughes’ greatest learning experience in dentistry was his time spent at the Pankey Institute. One of the most unique features of the training programmes there, is what occurs after the day at the Institute. Visiting faculty members with a huge amount of clinical practice experience come and explore the topics of learning that day with the entire class, but in an apartment environment. The greatest learning and understanding of the concepts being taught happened in that room. Dr Hughes believes that true learning and guidance by mentors and experienced clinicians, is best experienced in a relaxed environment. So we have created a Training Lounge to be able to teach and learn together as a group, in the most intimate and rewarding way possible. Enjoy refreshments and our coffee bar at your leisure throughout the day. We leave the “lecturing” to the lecturers and invite you to experience Lounge Learning.
IN CLINIC TRAINING
The training centre has been set up and integrated fully into Canon House Clinic, Dr Hughes’ cosmetic dentistry and medical aesthetics clinic. This allows us the opportunity to train on “live” patients; what we call “hands in” training, far removed from working ‘hands on’ on tooth models in a hotel room. Being able to practice workflow and procedures on actual patients is a far more rewarding experience than working on fake teeth. It also allows us to train you and your team on all aspects of the patient journey, in house lab facilities and the nuances of five star customer service.
